You're a mighty fine hunter/tracker of the rare FE wagons. Colour me GREEN, that would be enough to turn me into a restorer! Cheers Ed Title: Re: Happy Christmas - FE 219 Post by: customFC on December 24, 2005, 09:39:11 AM Wow, nice printing plates.
It always amazes me how these things are still out there. Would you let him know I am willing to offer him a 100% increase on his investment. ;) Thanks for sharing the pics. Regards Alex Title: Re: Happy Christmas - FE 219 Post by: Hewart on December 24, 2005, 11:55:31 PM Hey Nick...

Title: Re: Happy Christmas - FE 219 Post by: Motörhead on December 26, 2005, 11:25:32 PM Congrats Nick, what an awesome find!!! Can I perhaps ummm interest you in taking me along on one of your FE/FC-spotting expeditions in the future lol? ;) .... maybe I'll get lucky too. ;D
910 pounds plus tax .... sounds right for the starting price of an FE in 1956/57. Ahhh if only life was so uncomplicated like back then. Pete Title: Re: Happy Christmas - FE 219 Post by: 20.4_seconds on January 12, 2006, 12:54:07 AM Just a little update on this wagon,
It was bought new in Chiltern, NE Vic. It only changed hands once and this is where the story starts...A farmer bought it for $50.00 about 12 years ago and while driving it home, it broke down(or so he thought!) After trying everything he finally stripped the heads off it to see if he could fix it(no luck) so he towed it home and took what parts off it for his FJ Ute...They then discoverd it had just run out of petrol...the old dodgy gauge!!!!. This farmer also has what I'm told is a yellow FC(taxi?) in his shed for 20 years! I am working on it....... ;D The car has since been stored in his shed until two years ago when the new owner purchased the FJ, the wagon was a throw in....(Nice throw in ..eh) This wagon is for sale but don't attack with me pm's as I will post the owners details as soon as I get word from him. Nick P.s Alex, the printing plates take pride of place in his display cabinate and I don't think he would part with them ever. he actually bought them in a box of lead that he was planning to melt down for fishing weights!!! p.p.s Another little bit of Trivia...the owner was born in an FJ ute...so he is an absolute Holden nut!! ;D Title: Re: Happy Christmas - FE 219 Post by: customFC on January 12, 2006, 05:12:59 AM Hey Nick.
Interesting story. Thanks for following up. Pleased to hear that the printing plates will be treasured. Now get out there and find out more about that yellow FC (taxi?). ;) Regards Alex |
