Title: Brake booster "type"
Post by: Digger on June 24, 2002, 12:55:27 AM
Hi Guy's,

Im looking for some advice on fitting a brake power booster to the fire wall, I'm currently running LH disks and callipers with a 1"tandem master cylinder boosted by a VH40 and would like to change it.
What I would like to know is what booster I can use and is there one that will fit and have enough room to mount the clutch master cylinder as well.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank's
Steve.

 ;)HI DIGGER
I USED A BOOSTER AND TANDEM MASTER FROM A HK HOLDEN.
IT FITTED LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR THE FC AND NO PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER EITHER.
  HOPE THIS HELPS

Thanks a heap ACE, ;D

Ace could you tell me if the booster is mounted with 2 or 4 bolts, I was hopeing that the booster might bolt up to the holes I drilled to fit the master cylinder.  ???

Regards,
Steve.

Digger,

the booster has two bolts vertically oppposed and a third smaller one just off to the clutch master side.  I welded up the holes on the HK booster and redrilled them to suit the original FC brake master mounts.  The third bolt I drilled a hole for it and welded a nut on the back of the metal plate.

I also made a strengthening arm located up the front of the booster to stop any potential movement whilst driving.
