 :-[ Can someone please tell the easiest way to check what ratio diff I have in my fc ?

   the ratio is stamped on the round plate that is attached to the yoke near where it meets the housing it is also stamped on the crown wheel but to see this you have got to take the centre out.

I think that what Phil said is correct except that the original 3.89:1 ratio diff used up to and including EJ has no stamp indicating the ratio. This was true for the diff in my EJ (yes I did pull it out and look at the crown wheel- thought it might be fun just to check- NOT!)

I guess that because the 3.89 was the only ratio available until 1963 there was no need for a stamp to identify the ratio prior to this.

The way to check if the diif is a 3.89 is by the flange the 3.89 uses 4 bolts for tailshaft where later model diffs use 2 U-Bolts
