Post by: collecta on October 28, 2005, 10:02:53 AM

I am chasing the metal strips which run between the boards in the back of a ute or van,  might be easier to make out of steel strip and can someone tell me the type of timber used.also a good hood lining to suit a ute, colour not important but condition is.
cheers
Scott

Hi Scott, for the Ute floor I bought a sheet of 6mm marine ply.  I got a great price $49.00 from an FC owner who happened to work there, not a club member tho, he let me choose the grain.  Cut it to size and dropped it in.  A coat of external Estapol and it looks great.

My steel runners are rusty on the underside, so I'll buy some 1 inch x 1/8 flat and make new ones. I think it'll be a lot easier than cleaning the old ones.

Can't help you with the rest, Kevin
