Title: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: Martin on September 27, 2005, 02:35:34 AM The Bay to Birdwood Classic run for vehicles 30 to 50 years old was held yesterday. Very few pics as is rained, then it rained, and after that it rained some more.
8 SA club cars entered, but got split up on the way to Birdwood, although a group of 5 managed to stay together. Certainly looks like good car show weather! ;)
Well done to the dedicated people who went. I drove down to Cleveland in Brisbane yesterday for a swap meet and Commercial Vehicle Show (mostly old trucks). Saw an FX ute, an EH sedan, FX sedan. No FE or FCs, although last time I went to this show (4 or 5 years ago) there was another yellow cab FC. No rain at Brisbane, just fine and sunny. ;D Oh, I did see this little beauty. Harko would have loved it- 3" Chop, 2 door, no door handles. About as close to a Chevy Nomad as a Holden can get. (http://tinypic.com/dzv6e8.jpg) By the way, it is an EK, not an FB. Sorry Martin, this has turned into a thread hi-jack (unintentionally) ??? Title: Re: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: HARKO on September 27, 2005, 10:13:24 AM Surprisingly I'm not that overly keen on the looks of this one (Sorry if the owner is watching) Its just not my cup of tea ,I'd put this one into the "Wild custom" category and I think I prefer a milder custom look with all flowing lines like Mercury's or early chev's.
Like I always say - everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that dont mean everyone is going to like it. Title: Re: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: 20.4_seconds on September 27, 2005, 10:24:13 AM Hi Martin,
Great pics considering the inclement weather, well done. Takes a dedicated owner/driver to hang in there on such a bad day...ta for the pics.. Nick p.s ;D Was the "Show and Shine" any good? ;D Title: Re: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: Martin on September 28, 2005, 10:34:42 AM I'm with Harko - not keen on the look of the FB treatment of the EK - but I wonder what it would look like if the FB moulding began behind the door, so the curved door arch flowed into the FB moulding in a "lazy - S" shape, if you know what I mean. You Photoshop experts ought to be able to jigger that one up.
As to the Concourse cars at Birdwood - No FE/FCs in finals - too wet for me to take much interest in the others. Don't even know what car won - although my choice would have been a nifty little Renault 750 Martin :o What's this ??? Taking part in the hijack of my own thread. :o Title: Re: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: HARKO on September 28, 2005, 11:41:01 AM Your wish is my workload hehe
I played withthe stance also... Title: Re: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on September 28, 2005, 07:25:46 PM That looks heaps better, takes some length out of the rear side glass.
(Sorry, Martin) Title: Re: Bay to Birdwood Classic - 2005 Post by: Martin on September 30, 2005, 11:53:39 AM Yep, I reckon it looks better, too. Thanks Harko.
