Title: Engine Ditty
Post by: parisian62 on September 10, 2005, 12:16:16 AM
Hello there,

I'm seeking a set of words, jingle, ditty, acronym (not sure what you'd call it) to explain how an engine works.

My son (aged 7 and in 1st class in primary school) has put his hand up to do a speech at school and wants to do it on how an engine works.

I seem to remember some catchy words that basically explained the process.

Any ideas?

Hey,
what about this. My boy & I just made it up. He is 8.
It is sung to the tune "The hip bone is conected to the .....thigh bone" etc etc.

The fuel pump's what makes the……. fuel flow,
The carby sends the fuel where its……. gotta go,
The dizzy sends sparks & …….the plugs glow,
The pistons squash it up & make it…..all blow,
The blow makes the pistons go down …..real low,
They’re joined to crank & that goes…up & down
The crank makes the flywheel go….…round & round
Let out the clutch & the ……gears engage
This sends the horsepower all the way,
All the way down to the……LSD,
This turns the axles & the… wheels go
Then push the gas pedal..... real low,
The gas pedal makes the ......fuel flow,
Then the carby sends the fuel where its ...gotta go,
& the wheels go round & round!!!!!!!!!!

:o ;D ;D ;D ::)

Move over Bernie Taupin!

May need a little adjustment, as it is REAL hard to make engine parts & functions rhyme. :-/ :-/

Try this amateurish attempt.   :)  :)  :)

Put together with mechanical skill
Pistons goes up and down at will
Valves open and close
Fuel burnt exhaust on the nose
While the wheels go round and round

Intake, Compression, explosion, exhaust
By four, six or eight cylinders forced
All make a vehicle perform on a course
While the wheels go round and round

I think you'll find its the Beatles.

Watching the Wheels

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go.

Paul McCartney's lawyer will be in touch Rob.   ;D

An impressive effort Rob J and REDMR2RED.  :D  How about a duet at the next round of Australian idol?  I'm sure the whole forum would be behind you guys.

Many thanks again.

For what it is worth there was a single released a few years back called "the old Holden Waltz" it tells the story of always being broke and working on the old beasts, it uses the firing order as a chorus! and tells the story of a young guy buying an "old FC panelvan, from a retired man, driven three times round the clock"

will try to find words.
