Title: hidden boot release
Post by: gree on May 26, 2002, 06:35:31 AM
hi,

i remeber at the all holden day last year talking to one of the club members about the hidden boot release he had just fitted to his fc. his car had no bumpers and was in that cool "in construction" guise.

anyway, was just wondering about what cable lock mechanism he, or anyone else out there has used to get rid of that pesky boot lock. and whether it adapts to the existing boot lock, or you have to replace the whole thing... any help would be welcome.

Simon,   I've done this once but I found it difficult to get a cable to adapt to the standard FC lock, because it is just a small cast cam shaped thing.
What I did was reverse the whole lot and fit an EH lock on the panel below the boot lid ( pretty easy) and then fit a catch to the boot lid using the original bolt holes in the boot lid (again pretty easy)
The EH boot lock is then simply modified to enable a cable to operate the release mechanism
Hope this helps (and doesn't sound too confusing) :-/

Ken

Hi Simon
The car you are refering to was Craig Jordans FE. I think from memory he has a Gemini locking set up. I will ask him when I see him next. Unfortunately he is Computer challenged and does not post here.
