Title: fuel line leak
Post by: Dave_EH on August 29, 2005, 08:04:48 AM
Hi,

I've just connected up fuel to my motor and started it for the first time since new head, new fuel pump etc.

It is a red motor with a glass bowl pump and is leaking fuel where the steel line flare on the outlet side goes into a brass 45 degree adaptor.

Should there be a washer inside the brass adaptor where the flare meets the seat of the adaptor to seal?

It leaks a lot of fuel when starting prior to fire up (i.e. when the fuel pump is turning and the engine is not running)

Cheers
Dave

No there is no washer, brass to steel fit.

If its leaking out of the thread it's cross threaded otherwise try the following -

You say it is a new fuel pump - replace the brass adaptor from the old pump, this will give you the original seal, if it still leaks then the flare on the fuel line is damaged.
