Title: Front springs
Post by: Adrian Smith on May 25, 2002, 04:02:51 AM
Advice needed,

I am restoring a FC holden with a 186 and a disc brake
HR front end. What my dillema is I dont know what the weight difference is between the HR and the FC are,
so I can decide which front springs to use. FC's of HR's

I've surfed the net for ages for the gross weights of each model with no luck. Can anyone help me?

Adrian

Back in the days when rego papers used to show kerb weight, I'm pretty sure mine said 1040kg (for an FC).

I doubt the HR shell weighed significantly more than the FC.  Most people fit the HR front end disc-to-disc, including the springs.  Given that in most cases they're carrying a HR engine, that would seem to make sense.

Check out our tech info section, there's an article about fitting HR front ends there:

Thanks Matey.

You wouldn't know by any chance where to find
Hex head self tappers new would you? I can only
find dome Phillips head. The type you use around
the front gaurds and grill.
