Title: Whitewall radials
Post by: SRVLIVES on August 17, 2005, 04:15:33 AM
Long shot before I get some from John Cain, anyone have any whitewall radials in 205/70x14 and 185/75x14 (pair of each)

Check with your local tyre place, Hankook and another asian manufacturer made thin white walls. Your saving would be the freight JLR would charge, plus the extra for fitting when you take them to a tyre store.
If you hit a brick wall, contact Dave at Ozrodders, he has a set on his XW Wagon.

Hey Gleen, yeah, I actually messaged Dave as I thought he may have some, turns out they're old rags.

I dunno whether I want 3/4" or 2" whitewalls, seems narrower are easier to find.

Check out your white/yellow pages.  There's a mob here in SA do the w/wall job with the tyres on the car (mobile service).  Apparently costs $60- for 4.  Won't be too long before Jim sports them - before the Bay to Birdwood run.

Martin, just checking if this "on car" service is the style where they use a cutting tool to groove the sidewall and then use a flexible paint to "create" the whitewall, if so check with your insurance company as most will void the policy with any cutting to the sidewall of the tyre.
Just my two cents worth, sorry for the temporary hijack!
Back to topic,
I do also know that Vintage Tyres in Melbourne was getting 2inch wide whitewalls in from USA, but havnt checked to see if they are in yet (also quite expensive)
