Title: FE Rear Brakes Post by: larry on July 26, 2005, 02:06:33 AM I have a holden grey powered special historic race car that has an FE diff and brakes ( I think) Under the historic rules I can run parts up to the year of manufacture of the car which is 1965. The qusestion is what are the best holden rear drum brakes pre 1965 I can fit to this diff housing .

If the car was made in 1965 can you use 1965 brakes, or do they have to be 'pre '65' brakes as you typed. If they allow 1965 drum brakes, the best would be HD ute & van. They are 2 1/4" wide & are the duo-servo type. On my ute I have a full set of PBR heavy duty brake hubs. I don't know much about them, They have a heavier 1/4" front face and the face is flat with "PBR" cast into them. I think the were a taxi option but not quite sure. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Aaron Title: Re: FE Rear Brakes Post by: fe hotrod on July 26, 2005, 08:59:20 AM ;)if your looking for pre 65 brakes,you will need to run eh brakes(64) as these are a heap better than fe brakes,and will basically bolt straight up,you could also put heavy duty linings onto the shoes,giving a better performance or you could ring the pro,s at hoppers stoppers on 03 74869509 in melbourne and they can help you out,as they are guru,s with this type of set up!!!cheers jamie ;)
