Thanks Scott....and thanks Gary for posting the pics !

I appreciate the comment of TASTEFULLY done, as that was my aim......I love chrome, but I hate it when you use too much of it....it's a fine line that I hope I haven't crossed.
I wanted to replicate as much as possible, an XU1 motor as it should look and not tarted up too much, hence the original Holden Rocket Red colour, the original XU1 manifold finished in Cast Alloy ( Not Chromed )...the extractors, Flame coated but not chromed, same with the water pump ect.

as far as internals go....I'd say tuff ???   YEAH, but once again, not over the top.

- Red 202 bored out 40 thou
- Balanced Crank 60 thou
- ACL Race Series bearings and rings
- Flat Top pistons
- Yella Terra Roller Rockers
- Yella Terra Head recond and set up for unleaded use
- New Push rods
- Single Valve Springs only
- Pacemaker Extractors
- Triple Stromberg CD 150's on Factory LC XU1 manifold
- XU1 heat shield
- Blue Motor Electronic Ignition
- Holley Mechanical Fuel Pump

and that's about it.......I know I went for electronic ignition, but that was on the motor when I bought it, but I drew the line at electronic Fuel pump.

Like I say....a fine line between over modified, and factory look........not sure if I achieved this.....but I like it.

Thanks again for your kind comments.

Cheers

Mark

very nice, a tough combination without going overboard well done. Its also good to see I am not the only one who doesn't trust their engine stand.

Sweet looking motor you have built there , i have a FC in my garage that the motor will slot into quite nicely , and of course you can have my motor in exchange and it would only cost you a slab , lol. Great work she is a credit to you
                                           Cheers Rusty

No worries Rusty....give me your address, and I'll pop it in the mail.  Just make sure you send me pics of it in your FC.....but I don;t drink ( anymore ), so you better make that a slab of gold....half a kilo should just about do it !

Have a good weekend mate,

Mark

Mark,
VERY nice. I just love the look of a tastefully detailed motor. If I had the room, I would love to have a few motors built, done up & displayed just like that.
I mean, I love to drive them too, but a cool looking motor or 2, are such good things to have in your garage or workshop, along with one in your car.
Sweeeeeeet.

I know what you mean Rob re: having a motor sitting there.
I'm a bit llike that with Old Holdens......love to see them all restored and tarted up ( eye candy )......but at the same time, there's a hint of sadness that such an old Holden relic has been touched.     I get such a buzz when you see an old holden quietly sitting under a tree of behind a shed, that is as original as the day is long....sure, it's grotty, dirty, rusty, doesn't go and all that, but there is just something majestic about them sitting there untouched.

Sound weird ?

Thanks for the kind comments.

Cheers

Mark
