Title: HELP!?!?!
Post by: bennypride on June 24, 2005, 10:34:59 AM
Hi Guys!

Just purchased my first old girl (EK Station Sedan)but she's in need of some professional help... And so am I!!!!

I live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney (near Manly) and need to find a reputable mechanic who knows what they're doing with my new baby. Nothing major, but I want to know that I can go somewhere locally for a good quality service, some friendly advice and I don't want to get ripped off!!!!

Any advice from those more knowledgable than I would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys,

Benny

I use Barry Antella, of Antella & Lloyd.

They are located at the Mobil (could be Ampol...) service station at the top of Roseville bridge, west side. Barry's also a regular at Queenscliffe SLSC.

Don't expect a bargain, just genuine service and an excellent knowledge of early Holdens. ie He's cost effective - not "cheap"

Be aware that the best way to minimise the running costs of old cars is regular maintenance, and to learn to do the simpler tasks yourself.

Familiarise yourself as to where to purchase parts, and try to supply as many as possible to your mechanic when you get the work done. For example, a grey motor water pump sourced via my mechanic's regular parts supplier was $260, where as you can get them from Ebay for half that amount.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Ed

Hi Benny,

Glad to hear of your purchase and a good one at that.  Gotta love those EK station sedans very cool 8)

If you're not aware there is National FB EK forum recently started up at http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/index.php

These FE FC guys know their stuff but we'd be glad to see you get on board at the above forum too.
