Title: spray gun problem Post by: knickers on June 07, 2005, 04:01:22 AM We have the ute in most parts ready for undercoating but on a dummy run the spray gun is 'pulsating' - have cleaned the gun by running thinners thru but still same - although not quite as bad - anyone any ideas on what could be the likley cause
Cheers Nickers Title: Re: spray gun problem Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on June 07, 2005, 04:24:51 AM I'd be cleaning the gun again thoroughly, maybe even pulling it apart to do so.
I had the same problem on my "junk" gun that use for around the house painting and it was full of crud. Title: Re: spray gun problem Post by: Ed on June 07, 2005, 04:26:48 AM Nickers,
check to see there are no air leaks. take the spray horns off the front of gun, take out the fluid tip. make sure the fluid tip is tight down with a good seal behind it, should have a nice plastic o-ring in good condition. if not, replace it... this is most likely your source of air causing flutter. I also put just one drop of oil where the fluid needle enters the back of the gun housing. I find this stops the fluttering, running thinners doesnt show up the flutter either, only when u put the heavier paint in. Cheers Ed Title: Re: spray gun problem Post by: hawk on June 07, 2005, 04:57:13 AM Nickers also check small on top of gun lid is not blocked as is a breather hole.......
Title: Re: spray gun problem Post by: knickers on June 07, 2005, 05:01:26 AM Thanx guys
The gun - a 770 - is new & only used once before so there shouldn't be any faulty parts ? I've got line pressure set at 55 psi. Ed do you mean a drop of oil at the end where the adj nut is or at the end where the cap is Cheers Title: Re: spray gun problem Post by: Ed on June 07, 2005, 05:06:55 AM Quote Thanx guys The gun - a 770 - is new & only used once before so there shouldn't be any faulty parts ?
