Title: FINALLY
Post by: REDMR2RED on May 25, 2005, 05:56:48 AM
Hi all, finally got my FC Ute Registered (VIC) today.

WOO-HOO!!!!  at last.  Fantastic, can't wait till the first Club run to take it on.

Four items on the roadworthy, he made me replace perfect rubber bushes on the rear spring shackles, a blown reverse light globe, tighten up the front wheel bearings and the hardest job repair 18 inches of part of the subframe which was rusted and crushed.  That all done, it was off to VIC Roads new office in Dandenong.

They gave me a hard time on the proof of ownership (i.e. not stolen) 4hammers helped me with that (Thanks Rob) only to find at the last minute they accepted a "Stat Dec".

I'm now sporting my original Registration number I had on my original FC Ute way back in 1963 HAV 709

You should have seen the smile on my face as I drove it home.

Cheers Kevin

Here is a pic of the section of rusty sub-frame I had to repair.  Took me 5 hours :-/ to cut out the rust and oxy weld, up-side-down, the new section in.

You asked for it Kev...Here goes;
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Glad to see you got it on the road. Man, that HAV 709 rings a bell. Isn't that REALLY close to Brett Gillards number?? HAD 708

Anyway, glad to hear you got it there. Despite the petty bureaucrats!

Thanks everyone, here's a pic of my "ORIGINAL" FC Ute HAV 709.

I think this photo was taken in 1964.

Hi Kevin,
Well done! looking forward to seeing it on a run.
How did you manage to get your original rego number. Did you have to make it a personalised plate?
Was just wondering as I'm having trouble with VicRoads at the moment trying to retain my original number while it's in the shed under construction.
cheers,
Leigh

Hi Leigh, thanks.  I simply rang up VIC Roads 13 11 71 (waited forever to get through) and asked if it was available.  Was told yes it was so I asked if I can have it and was told yes.  That's it, no dramas at all.  The cost was $310.00.  They were posted to me two months before registration, for me to hold.

I started to explain what it was for but she was not interested.

With the plates came a "Transfer of Rights" agreement, allowing me to sell the plates to anyone else or with the vehicle.
