Title: Quarter Mile Times
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on May 22, 2005, 11:02:10 AM
Here's your chance for a brag, I have been playing around with a program called DragStrip Plus. It's an old DOS program that you plug all your car/engine data into and it calculates what sort of ET you will get and suggests changes that should decrease your times.
Based on the data I have at the moment, my FE has the potential for 14.74 second times @ 98.4 mph.
Is this realistic? The same motor managed a best of 14.2 seconds in an LJ Torana and has had the compression ratio lowered a bit for PULP.

my car did 17.0 at eastern creak when it was a 192 manual 3spd all synchro and 2.78, it was faster than the standard time and when I last raced it to give you a idea the latest hyundai sfx sports car that had just come out claimed to be able to run 17.2.
I started reading modern motor when no one was looking and getting the times of all the new cars, then everytime I saw one that was slower than mine at the lights I would try and bring on a race.
then new models started getting a little faster and I got bored with my car, people started luaghing at 17.0 seconds and now I have my motor back in peices for something a little more serious and EXPENSIVE.

Leon's right - my younger brother and I built a stroked 308 VB Commodore street car that had about 450 HP. Very quick when it was finished about 6 years ago with a 12.2 first run, but not now. Times have just tumbled with all the good street cars in the low 11's and some LOTS quicker. Even the 'off the shelf' HSV/FPV product is in the mid to low 13's.

Bring on those Hyundias.........

Cheers,

Craig.

P.S: That Commodore is not so quick any more. Some low life stole it in the middle of the day from out the front of my brothers work and burnt it out. VERY sad, it was a high quality car with $1000.00's of dollars spent. And even sadder because it was only finished about six months when it went  >:( >:(
