(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/57holden/Workshop3.jpg) Cheers Sarge Title: Re: Garages Post by: Flamin.J on May 05, 2005, 10:43:25 AM Hi FCCOOL,
Saw your finned rocker cover,im looking for one for my Fe,could you point me in the direction of one . Im also looking for a similar style side plate as was pictured in "Cruzin " may edition(PAGE57). THANKS FLAMIN.J Title: Re: Garages Post by: NO NAME on May 05, 2005, 10:59:21 AM The rocker cover is my favourite thing in the whole garage and part of the reason I bought the wagon to put it on, I havent seen any others like it, the fins are massive, it almost looks home made and appears to have a fj specail badge in the mould.
I am looking for a side plate for it too. the rocker cover was bought from a guy I was working with, his parents had a wrecking yard I think in Budewoi, he told me he had a red motor alloy rocker cover, when he brought it in to work this is what it was, I told him it wouldnt fit my motor and he said he would just take it back, I said "nut, I'll buy it anyway" it was about $25 if they are desirable maybe it might be worth making a mould of it and casting some, I havent done this before but it might be worth looking into Title: Re: Garages Post by: Burnsy on May 05, 2005, 11:08:35 AM Flamin J, there are a couple of rocker covers on ebay at the mo, one has fins and Dandenong cast into it. They come up pretty regularly with lost of different styles and castings.
As for alloy sideplates, line up behind the rest of the grey motor collectors, they are hard to come by, as are timing covers and sumps, I have never seen one on ebay. Cheers, Burnsy Title: Re: Garages Post by: Flamin.J on May 06, 2005, 06:58:03 AM Ok then - so what I saw in "Cruizin" mag from the Toowoomba swap meet was pure gold then....
Mental note - book leave to go to Toowoomba next year! FCCOOL - buying the car for the rocker cover - hell, I would have bought the garage! Seriously though - re the mold concept - maybe you should do a poll and see if we could all split the cost involved in manufacture - I, for one, would be interested. Cheers Flamin. J Title: Re: Garages Post by: blacky on May 09, 2005, 08:48:13 PM I finally got to start moving my gear into my new shed yesterday , after being shedless for the last 18 months it was better than christmas !
It is still a big mess , but I took some photos anyway , however I am too technologically retarded to be able to post them , so can someone post them for me ? ? ? Title: Re: Garages Post by: blacky on May 10, 2005, 03:34:27 AM This is all I had to work in up until now.....

Is that your Chev? Happy times setting up the shed and playing in it! ;D Title: Re: Garages Post by: blacky on May 10, 2005, 04:21:58 AM Yep , thats the next project , once I finish the monaro , and the FB ute , and the EK etc etc etc .Sadly there is no FC to put in there but not through lack of trying...
By the time I get the rest of the cars in there the shed will be plenty full I reckon ! The white seacontainer is full of old Holden bits , mainly FC-EK vintage.I was going to get rid of it and put all the bits in the shed but I think it will stay where it is. Here's some photos of the garage at home. I still haven't had time to build a workbench & some shelves, etc. Thanks to CRAIGA for his assistance with getting the photos up here....I'm a bit hopeless when it comes to computers! :P You can see in the pictures my son Baydon's HR, Kathy's white VT SS, my red VX SS, and my FC. Unfortunately my EH is in the shed at Mum & Dad's place. Title: Re: Garages Post by: gp on May 12, 2005, 10:48:21 PM and then

Title: Re: Garages Post by: gp on May 12, 2005, 11:12:15 PM The next few shots show my "Playroom" under the house, which is a garage converted to a room, with access from the house via a spiral staircase. I still have heaps of work to do here, as you can see there's lots of boxes still to be unpacked. I've also still got heaps of stuff to bring over from mum & dad's. Hopefully later this year I'll have most of my memorabilia on display. I'll post some more pics then.

Title: Re: Garages Post by: HARKO on May 18, 2005, 12:31:42 PM This would have to be one of the best topics ever put on this forum I reckon ,Good thinkin 99 / phantom.
Ive been meaning to get some photo's of the shed since the topic started but every time I charge the camera the little missus uloads it on the kids and cant understand why i am priorotising the shed over family. I said well why dont the whole family come out and help me in the shed then ? Silence Title: Re: Garages Post by: ChrisB on May 19, 2005, 09:17:03 AM There is a wide assortment of sheds alright, so heres mine. Only one trouble these days, I have to unpack my toys everytime I start a new part of a project. So the carport becomes the assembly area and doubles as the paint bay
You just never know who is lurking in your shed ;D, Dont worry I checked his pockets ;D ChrisB 8) Title: Re: Garages Post by: ChrisB on May 19, 2005, 09:33:52 AM This shot brings new meaning to motorcyclist ;D

Title: Re: Garages Post by: 4hammers on May 19, 2005, 09:46:26 AM Cool.
Watch him, Chris. Sneaky little bird, for sure. At the risk of getting in strife, what is that body-shell in the background? Rob J Title: Re: Garages Post by: 4hammers on May 19, 2005, 09:53:08 AM Here are a couple from one of my sheds.

Title: Re: Garages Post by: 4hammers on May 19, 2005, 10:01:26 AM Hey, FC4ME,
would love to get the ID plate details of that car. Chris' sedan is a very similar colour scheme to my wagon. Mine has the light roof though. Rob J Title: Re: Garages Post by: normd on May 19, 2005, 11:06:11 AM Aaaaahhh (relieved)
Rob , now I don't feel so bad , you use the same "filing system" as me ...... ;D (don't change it , you'll never find anything ::) ) Norm :) Title: Re: Garages Post by: Burnsy on May 19, 2005, 11:22:39 AM Quote My old garage at Dee Why This has to take the cake as the best lookin retro shed, I have got to get me some of that linoleum ;D - that is fantasic. Title: Re: Garages Post by: ChrisB on May 19, 2005, 06:42:16 PM Rob,
the car is a 1936 Plymouth, in recent months I got the body back on the chassis, long term project, so in that land of opportunity down south if you find 1936 plymouth/chrysler/dodge bits give me a call FC bit ;D I wondered how the wagon colour scheme was different, and I thought yellow/black was only early 58 Maybe the "gurus" can shed some light Cheers ChrisB ;D Title: Re: Garages Post by: 4hammers on May 19, 2005, 08:38:12 PM Hi Chris.
I will keep an eye out. As for the FC wagon, mine is 58, quite early. The 59 scheme on the wagon would have included a black roof. On a wagon, a 58 scheme has the roof the same colour as the body. The flash & rear are black. Norm, yep, good filing system. If there is a flat surface & you can balance something on there, voila`, it is a shelf! Cheers Rusty Title: Re: Garages Post by: Phantom on May 20, 2005, 03:15:23 AM Just noticed something in your pics ChrisB, didnt you trust Kiwi with your bike and left it on the centre stand, or couldn't Kiwis legs reach the ground?

Hey torque, looks like you've got a fair collection of holden parts, you worry me having 3 boxes of glazed pineapple in the shed, though ;) especially since it is from thailand, and not good old aussie golden circle. ;) Keep the photos coming people.
