Title: Lowering blocks
Post by: Burnsy on May 02, 2005, 02:28:41 AM
The Speco website lists 1.5 and 2 inch lowering blocks for HR's.  Has anybody had any experience with these?  Thinking of putting some on my car as I am running HR rear?

Cheers,
Burnsy

I have 2" blocks in my car with HR rear.
I had the blocks in the car when still FC rear and when I swapped over to HR, I found the U bolts still fit with the HR mounts. Otherwise, get longer bolts for the HR plates. I thought the U bolts seemed safer.
Regards
Alex

I have 2" lowering blocks in my car which is running a VN commodore rear end. I have had no problems at all, but I would agree with Alex about the U bolts rather than just using longer bolts.

Hi Burnsy

I am not familiar with the Speco blocks but when ordering ask if the blocks are cut on an angle to compensate for diff pinion angle or are the traditional parallel style.  Recently I ordered a set from Airbagit and these were cut on a significant angle which would have overcompensated for the change in diff pinion angle (not an issue for early Holdens due to their reasonable wheelbase).

It’s just a little thing but it may save you some hassle.

I am thinking of lowering my rear end but are lowering blocks legal and roadworthy?

this is from the May 2003 "guide to modifications for motor vehicles' which can be downloaded from the VicRoads website. It certainly implies that they are legal in Vic
