Title: Grey Gear box parts Post by: graham_fuller on April 23, 2005, 12:51:17 PM I had a guy ring me from Tasi the other night wanting main cluster, first ,second and reverse gears.Any chance you can assist Rob?I spoke to Rare Spares Sydney and they no longer stock these parts(thats a worry).
Cheers, Graham Title: Re: Grey Gear box parts Post by: Martin on April 23, 2005, 01:53:08 PM Graham,
I have a complete gearbox available. Synchro on 3rd is a bit slow, but otherwise it's in good confition. Trouble is, I'm in SA. It cost me $48- to get a recon'd box from Melb to Adlaide, so I think getting one from Adel to Tassie would be double that cost. Was that Shaun? If so, he has been around (Last weekend) & I gave him what I had. If it is someone else, I do have some more bits. A couple of NOS seconds left & plenty of secondhand, but very good gearbox internals (No first / reverse though). I used all my good NOS stuff recently on my first gearbox build myself (Now I know why I am a Baker/Pastrychef, not a mechanic :-/). Not sure how he went, but he spotted my Norman & asked if he could have that ;D ;D He has a really cool FC ute. An original, painted grille FC. Sweeeeeeeeet! Yes it was shawn.I will keep looking for him. Cheers, Graham Title: Re: Grey Gear box parts Post by: craiga on April 25, 2005, 07:00:45 AM Hey Rob,
LOVE the painted grille thing, any chance of a photo? These utes must be quite rare by now, lots of them would have been run into the ground or the grilles replaced at either the dealership when they were new, or by later owners. There is a ute in the Flynn's wreckers at Cooma with a painted grille, but unfortunately the grill is damaged. :( Cheers, Craig. I will see what I can do. This thing is 100% bog stock, original. It was the one I tracked down to an old fella (Probably at least 90) who lived in the backend of nowhere. He had the ute since it was a couple of years old. It was a Brighton (Tas) council ute that he bought at auction & had ever since. Funny thing, it has a heater & an original Manual control airchief radio (Both in it when he got it, he assured me). Odd on such a plain ute. Maybe the bosses car? Shaun spotted it in the paper, before me. The old fella passed on & someone else grabbed it. I would love to have it oneday, as I have a thing for NO chrome (As opposed to heaps of chrome). Craig, guess what? It looks as if my wish may be coming true. The Sloper seems to be destined for the US of A & I will be buying the FC ute of Shaun. THEN I will get some shots of it. Painted Grille & all! My Dad always told me, Patience Grasshopper............& it looks as if it paid off. Will let you know how I go. Title: Re: Grey Gear box parts Post by: 4hammers on July 15, 2005, 08:25:57 AM Hi Eddie.
Yes, front bumper & rear bumperettes chromed. If you have an FC Brochure, there is a van & also a ute with the colour coded grille & headlight surrounds shown. The only cars that I know of that had colour coded bumpers were the ARMY utes (FJs) & I once saw a photo of an FC GPO van that had EVERYTHING de-chromed. Rare cars indeed. |
