i have a CRS brake adaptor kit to fit commodore rotors and callipers to HR stubs, the kit is basically an adaptor plate plus modified stub axles. the plates seem to be interchangeable ( L-R) this would allow positioning of the callipers to either the front or rear on the stub. what i would like to know is there any advantages or disadvantages if i mounted the callipers to the rear.
i am using the original brake line mounting points so i am a bit sceptical in running a longer flexible line behind the stub where it would run close to the springs and possibly foul on these or the steering arms. i know it might be easier to just rebend the bundy tube  :-/
has anyone done this conversion or could suggest a remedy.

ok let me rephrase this, though i would have thought someone has used this kit ??? and the knowledge on this forum this question could be answered.  any way what i would like to know is, i assume that the callipers bolt up to the front of the rotor, but is it possible to have the callipers mounted at the rear of the rotors??
i am talking about the front brakes to!
the kit will allow me to do this but is it safe?

Hi Smithy.

I've not used this kit, but I may be able to answer your question.

With most modifications there are always fitting problems. With disc brake conversions of the different ones I've done the most common 2 problems are the caliper fouling the crossmember on full lock or suspension travel & the hose routing.

Try both fore & aft, & see which position gives you the least problems in these areas.

I think the problem with mounting to the rear will be that more cutting of the tower will be needed.  The tower is already factory notched at the front for the stock calipers.
As far as hoses go - the easiest thing to do is to have a new set of hoses made to suit the rear caliper position.  A good brake shop will do this for you.
I make these conversion hoses everyday!

thanks ken and the good Dr, i had a good look over the weekend  as to where the flex hoses can run and if they will foul, and fitted the callipers to the front, i intended to send the car off to a brake specialist when its up and running so they can make up some flex hoses and a handbrake cable. but thanks for the replies.
