Title: petrol cap options

help. i've lost the petrol cap off the FE and i dont want to spend $30 on one from rarespares.
is there one off any other car i can get cheap from the wreckers that will fit
( it's only for cathys car so it doesnt need to be original ...just cheap )

         gezz thats nice! you lost the wifes petrol cap & don't want to buy her a new one :D. You could buy one of those orange plastic emergency caps for $2.00 ;D Just about any auto parts store would have the aftermarket lockable caps. Just make sure it's the one that vents through the cap. If you want (or more importantly if the missus wants) an original type I'm sure Slim would have one.

Hey surferboy, 48 (FX) through to EK used the same cap. That might make it easier to find one???

Jezz.......you can have mine off my FC Special ( I'll have to find it first )....it's a plain chrome one which from memory is in pretty good nick.....I'll be using a chrome lockable one off my donor car, so when I find the standard chrome one, it's yours !

Most auto stores have a range of caps, I got a plain stainless one that looks exactly the same as the one that came with car (less dents though). The card listed it as a fit for a range of Holden models.
It has a semi-domed top with a ribbed(?) edge. Cost all of $10 if memory serves.

I have a lid that will fit.. the gasket is not much good but it's a cap..

plain chrome lid.

urs free!

Popped in to visit the wagon at the mechanics workshop this week and mentioned my problem. he gave me a box full of caps. The result.... 1 locking cap and 3regular caps ....FOR FREE
