Title: glovebox
Post by: surferboy on February 02, 2005, 10:26:55 PM
i've pulled the glovebox out (that was a silly thing to do ) now no amount of gaffa tape is going to hold it together .
what are the options for replacing it ? i'm not worried about being original. i was thinking of building a slightly bigger one to keep all my beachboy CDs in. whats the best/easiest material to work with ?

If you are going to build a new one, then 6mm MDF would probably be the easiest material to work with.

I also had the thought for cd's but you will find that the wiper arm has not much clearance from the glove box, which stopped me from making one to fit.

I made 1 out of steel. Used the old 1 as a template and folded and welded it together. It's basically 2 pieces. I also made an internal facia where I mount my CD player.
Covered inside with carpet.....looks and works sweet.

I made mine out of fibreglass. Just made a template one out of 6mm MDF white board. Then a little gelcoat and a few layers of glass.
