Title: Fuel Gauge Post by: graham_fuller on January 24, 2005, 09:57:10 PM Fuel gauge registering is erratic has only happened since I had dash carrier out. I think its probably a bad earth.Any suggestions.

Bad earth will definately do this. I know you say you haven't touched it but the fuel tank sender also needs to be earthed well as it completes the circuit. Clean all the connectors and where possible use star lock washers on electrical connections. This will ensure a good connection as the washer bites into each surface. my experience was that after taking the dash carrier out, a perfectly working fuel gauge became very erratic. I removed the dash carrier again and noticed that the threaded post terminal was not completely tight, good contact I would have thought, but after tightening it with a small shifting spanner, all was fixed.... so lesson is, good connections are imperative for the gauge to work, even if your sender unit is a good one.... cheers....Brad Title: Re: Fuel Gauge Post by: graham_fuller on January 25, 2005, 09:07:03 PM Cheers Guys,
I tighted up the nut as suggested,polished the pin connector and used external star washers on the dash hold down screws.Now the gauge works fine. Thanks, Graham ;) |
