Title: Metal Registration Plate Frames wanted
Post by: Ol_Girl_58 on January 07, 2005, 01:49:21 AM
Hi all,

I am seeking  two stainless steel/chrome or nickel plated rego plate frames, to border my rego plates.

I've just placed my FC sedan on restricted Special Interest registration, and have received a new set of rego plates.

Rather than drill some holes into my new plates, I am hoping to purchase some metal plate frames, which would make the car look tops  8) Trying to find a set new is proving to be a fruitless exercise... Shops are trying to sell me plastic ones  :'( There's no way anything plastic is going onto my FC.

I am in Tasmania, so our number plates are large, not slimline. I am willing to look at anything. If you have a set, I am interested!

leave a note here, or email me at joshuam2@utas.edu.au

Thanks heaps!

Regards,

Josh.

NSW Historic Rego plates are dinky little ones, with holes that don't match the older, large plate.

Peter Jackson (yes that ($2) one) manufactures these for our club:

They have a perspex cover on the front (great for keeping the bugs off), and come with all the hardware (pretty acorn nuts and the like) to fasten the historic plate to the frame, and the frame to the bumper bracket.  The one shown is for a historic plate, but he does others that are a bit oversize to suit a standard plate.

You tell him what you want, and he'll do it for you.  I've seen white (which suits the historic plate) and mill finish ones.  He may do other colours these days.  Let me know if you want some contact info.

cheers

Thanks RET.

These frames look so much better than what I had in mind.

any extra information and details would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

P.S. I may be a bit dense, but is finish like a matt aluminium finish?

Josh,

Yeah, mill finish is plain aluminium.  The earliest ones he did were like this, and IMHO they don't look anywhere near as good as the white ones.  Perhaps if our historic plates weren't white it might be different, but to my mind the mill finish looks crap against the polished chrome of the bumper.

I'll PM you the contact details I have.

cheers
