Title: Which gearbox to use Post by: Kermit on September 28, 2004, 07:23:59 AM I am sure this has been covered before but as i am about to install a HR front end to my EK Ute i thought i might go a bit further and change the Gearbox to something more modern and something that "does not scream its lungs out on the freeway" I am keeping the grey motor so i would like comments from the forum on what box they think i should go far incl model number if possible. I know about the modifications i need to make i realy just need suggestions on which box

Most 5 speed boxes have 5th as an overdrive gear which is good on the highway. The other alternative is to change your diff to one with a different ratio (3.55 or 3.36) or even go to 14 inch wheels.

has anyone slotted a T700 auto into an FC? I'm toying with the idea of swapping the top loader I've got behind the V8 for an auto. Wander into Dellows at Revesby and say: "I got an EK ute. It has a Grey Motor. I want overdrive. Watchya got?" Fly with what they say, even if you use their advice but not product. Cheers Spineer |
