Title: FE-FC heater Post by: nigelb42 on August 22, 2004, 07:18:36 AM howdy all,
I WAS bidding on the Bosch heater on e-bay ( http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1256&item=2487121316&rd=1 ) until it got a little expensive (for this week anyway). The seller identified it as an FJ, FE, FC model, wasn't FJ 6 volts? Also aside from the ' quote - they are worth as much as someone wants to pay - unquote', what should I be looking at paying for a heater? A real NASCO Warmaride heater can go from anything from $100 to $300. It really depends on what is there. One of the hardest bits to get is the demister vents. Luckily, one of the guys on this site (Ed), repros them. The round heater cores are a real bugger to fix. Check carefully for leaks. As for the one you were bidding on. That is NOT a Nasco heater. It would never have been fitted from new (Or near new) to an FE or FC. Bosch are actually the ones fitted to Fords!! $177 for one of those!! Crazy. I actually have a bosh heater in my FC wagon and while they are not Nasco they were available as a after market retro fit. I intend on fitting a original Nasco heater at a later date but the bosh one is fine and still are in a roundabout way period for the model. The other good thing about bosh heater is that they can be repaired unlike the Smiths/Nasco type that are just good for the tip when they give up the ghost. Ken will probably have more to say on this one but just a couple of details for you. Brett Title: Re: FE-FC heater Post by: 4hammers on August 22, 2004, 11:38:50 PM Hi Brett
I will happily stand corrected, but it is my understanding that the Bosch heaters were not available until approx 1965. You can actually see what model Ford they were fitted to in the part number. A mate here has one in his FC sedan, which has the model number XR????. Don't get me wrong, they are a nice little unit & pump out some heat. But, I think Nige was after a genuine FE FC heater & even you stated yours was a "Retro" fit. I am sure Ken can clear it up. Title: Re: FE-FC heater Post by: mcl1959 on August 23, 2004, 07:31:18 AM Rob, unfortunately Bosch heater as pictured was fitted as the Nasco heater on FJ's as well as 1956 FE's, although the demister vents pictured are for something else. I have pictures of the heater in a Nasco accellerator magazine.
The unidentified heater is probably a Smiths item Ken Title: Re: FE-FC heater Post by: Sarge on August 23, 2004, 07:32:48 AM Kiwi
Looks more like a blow dryer used for sheep. You should be able to clear this one up & stop us all wondering. ;D Regards Sarge Title: Re: FE-FC heater Post by: -KIWI- on August 23, 2004, 07:47:52 AM thanks ken

:-/ :-[ :-[ The Guru has spoken & I have stuffed up. Sorry Nige. The only Bosch heaters I have ever seen have been Ford items. I have never seen or heard of one of those in a Holden from new. But I know that Ken would be much better informed than me. That will teach me to blab off without the correct research. Brett. I stand corrected :D I will be keeping an eye out for those from now on.
