Title: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: RET on August 09, 2004, 11:12:50 PM Late last week a change was made to the layout of the site, which results in the Club Member Areas now being visible to all - even Guests. However, the access has been tightened up so that only members of the club in question can view that club's board. Previously some clubs allowed unfettered access to their private board, but this is no longer the case by default.
If you belong to several clubs, you simply need to let me know so that the access can be provided. The reason for this change was to better advertise the fact that this site belongs to and is paid for by the members of the FE-FC Holden Car Clubs. By making the Club areas visible but not accessable, more people will be aware of their existence - and the fact that there are additional areas of the site not available to the general public, which hopefully will translate into enquiries about the clubs. Also (and this has already started to happen) existing club members that were either unregistered users or not identified as club members have got in contact to have their access upgraded. I guess you don't know what you're missing out on if you didn't realise it was there in the first place. If you don't like the fact you can no longer access other clubs' areas, be aware that the changes were made following a group decision. cheers RET Title: Re: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: RET on August 10, 2004, 12:57:51 AM Just to clarify that clarification ::)
Guests will be able to see all the Club boards, but not be able to access any of them. Registered Users (that are not club members) will be able to see all the Club boards, but not be able to access any of them. Registered Users (that have notified me of their Club Membership) will be able to see all the Club boards, and be able to access - the Club General Discussion board, - the For Sale to Club Members board, - the Club board(s) of the club(s) they belong to. They won't be able to access boards of Clubs they do not belong to. And one other thing: when you send me a PM requesting Club Access, please include the name(s) of the club(s) that you belong including STATE, and your member number. I am only guessing otherwise. If you send the request by email, please include your forum user name with the other details. eg: Quote Hi RET, My name is Fred Fudpucker (forum user "fud") and I am member number 69 of the FE-FC (or FE-HR) club of STATE. Can you please give me access to the club area? regards, The Fud Dude cheers RET Title: Re: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: FCwagon on August 10, 2004, 01:41:32 AM Good idea RET,
I think it will increase a visitor's awareness of the FE-FC movement and how widespread it is when you see all the clubs listed upfront. Leigh Title: Re: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: NascoHunter on August 10, 2004, 01:47:00 AM Hi Richard,
I agree with what you have done. This way the guests on our forum will see that we are Australia wide and hopefully it will encourage them to join an FE-FC club of their choice and become an active member. Cheers, Tony Galea. Bloody good move, show everybody what we are all about and what their missing out on and may-be the membership numbers of clubs will increase. You have my full support for what it's worth. Regards Sarge Title: Re: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: Spinner on August 10, 2004, 06:38:50 AM Ret,

If I want to apply to join can I do it over the web or do I have to print the form and send it (with my money?) to you? If you go into the VIC site not the forum you can download a membership application form. Just fill in the details and post back to the club. Cheers, Tony. Title: Re: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: nigelb42 on August 14, 2004, 12:20:19 PM I have filled the bugger out but on the form it says that all memberships expire in September, do I wait until September so I am not paying 12 months membership for 1 month or do I divide the 12 months fee by 12 and pay 1 month now then renew in Sept? ???
I think this is probably a dumb arsed question and you're probably gonna say no knucklehead that's not the way we work, but there are organizations that NEED to run this way for ease of accounting. What's the go? I don't mind either way. I JUST WANNA KNOW WHATS BEHIND THE SECRET LINK ;D Nige Title: Re: Access to Club Discussion Areas Post by: NascoHunter on August 14, 2004, 12:33:32 PM Hi Nige,
