Title: chopping spring towers Post by: andykotzur on July 13, 2004, 08:44:35 AM How much can I shave the edges off the side of the spring tower before falling foul of the law?
To get enough room for a good turning circle , I need to cut about 10 -12 mm, where the caliper will hit. Keeping in mind the fact that I need a blue plate. Has anyone been down this road before? Thanks andy Title: Re: chopping spring towers Post by: mcl1959 on July 13, 2004, 08:56:14 AM Andy, it should be alright taking this much off the lip on the tower, but if your engineer is hesitant, weld on a reinforcing plate underneath the remaining section to make it stronger.
Unfortunately there is no hard & fast rule as the engineers report is subjective Ken |
