Title: tripple carbs trick
Post by: nicko on June 16, 2004, 04:31:33 AM
i have just recieved a set of tripple strombergs from Slim(thanks Slim)and was wondering if i can just use the middle carby or will the other two ports run lean, its on a single manifold with 3 flanges spaced evenly?
crossing my fingers that i can as they would look fantastic under the hood until i find warm cam and time to rebuild engine.

Nicko
You should be able to run one centre operating carby and two dummy carbs each end, but you will need to fit blanking gaskets under the end carbs to avoid any vacuum drop through the throttle butterflies and shafts. With the two carbs blanked it should operate  like a normal manifold.
Cheers
Jock

Thanks. Peter.

G'day Nicko I know of 2 EK wagons that run tripple carbs, the way they are set up is to use the center carb for cruzin and the two outer ones kick in when hard exceleration is needed eg; uphills or towing. It is set up using a progresive linkage and fuel economy is not affected when cruzin round town. My question is why put tripple carbs on if your not going to use them?
Something to think about anyway! Trev.

thats the setup on the wagon (thats if you are who i think you are  ::) )

if you look closely you an see the progressive linkage, i think your brother Sam said the other 2 carbs kicked in around 4500 rpm??

thats an awsome looking set up Torque
your car has come up very nice.must be a blast to drive around in a hot grey,
also yes the blanked off carbs work well with only the centre carb working, but would have been painfull in mild motor,
