Title: Engine Number Post by: Burnsy on June 11, 2004, 07:58:20 AM I have just found a grey motor in a scrap pile and am intending on recovering it as it has a chrome side plate and the crash box attached to it has an old "on the floor mechanism" attached to it so I am hoping the engine may reveal some goodies, like a modified head.
Can anyone tell me what the engin is out of, number is B62534. If anyone in WA wants the box, let me know as I don't want it. Title: Re: Engine Number Post by: ACE on June 11, 2004, 08:15:37 AM Hi Burnsy,
The engine is out of a FB ;) Regards ACE 8) Title: Re: Engine Number Post by: fastjbav6 on June 14, 2004, 12:01:45 PM I'll take the gear box as mine is a little noisy.
Would you trade it for a container of engine oil if its still available. I can pick it up at the next Meeting on Tuesday 13th July or from your place on the night. My phone number is 0419 813 086. Regards Seb Title: Re: Engine Number Post by: Burnsy on June 15, 2004, 11:24:36 AM Seb, its all yours, I wasn't asking anything for it but if you want to give some oil away I won't say no :)
I will call you when I have it at home, probably pick it up this weekend, I was up there yesterday but never had time to grab it. I have no idea what condition it is in, it may only be good for parts, either way you can do what you like with it. Title: Re: Engine Number Post by: Blown_FC on June 16, 2004, 04:11:46 AM Hey guys....Mark from Manji here.......I've stumbled across a Triple Carb setup for a Grey Motor.
Lynx Manifold ( FX-EJ cast into the top of it ), pretty much complete with linkages and Triple SU carbs. There may be the odd bit missing, as I only checked them out for a bit, but pretty sure they are at least 95% complete. Need a good clean-up too. If anyone is interested, let me know. The guy also has an old radio out of an FE/FC, although may not be an original unit, but still old none the less....It's the one with the dog and grammophone logo. The guy also has a couple of spare Greys and Gearboxes aswell, but was too dark to check em out properly...will hope to see more by the weekend. He also has a heap of trims and bits for the FC's aswell, but I'm taking first dibs on those. If anyone is interested in anything or wants me to look out for a certain part, let me know ! The asking price is for the above is pretty much between ...."Take it away" and "Please Take it away"...although he did mention $20 ish for the triples ! Any idea how to tell a warm cam from standard? Did any of the ld after market manufacturers use to stamp them or anything? Title: Re: Engine Number Post by: nicko on June 16, 2004, 08:17:16 AM Burnsy,if you need a set your welcome to them,as i use some carbs and do up others for resale bud,as im on a disability pension its my way that i can make some extra money, although some people on here take exception to it.as for the cam i dont know how or if they marked them but usually you will see the lobe is a slightly sharper angle, you would need another stock cam to tell the difference as a comparrison.

Title: Re: Engine Number Post by: Blown_FC on June 16, 2004, 09:49:47 PM G'day guys...me again.....it seems the triples for the Grey are creating some real interest...whether it be to keep for personal cars, or some other creative plans.
Either way, I'd personally rather see them go to a good and needy home, which there now seems to be many of. And it seems that a number of emails have come in at pretty much the same time, wanting the carbs. So I'm in a dilemma as to who's home they should go to. I'm waiting on final price form the current owner, who is also enquring as to the availability for parts if needed.....(ie) if parts are hard to come by, then he will sell cheap as they are not 100% complete, but if parts are plentiful to rebuild, then he may ask closer to market value, which one little birdie has told me can be up to around the $300 mark. So to be fair, I'll wait for the final price from the current owner, and will email the 1st email I received, if no go, then I'll email the next person that emailed me. Hope that sounds fair.
