Title: Electric Wiper Motor for FE Post by: Wayne Halls on June 08, 2004, 10:30:13 PM I need wipers for my FE. The vacuum motor doesn't work but I believe I can get 1 or 2 speed kits. How/where can I get them and does the vacuum motor have to be in working order or is the electric kit totally independant to the vacuum motor?

Youll also need a wiper switch, Which I do not have ... You can eleminate the vacumn fuel pump and lines for the vacumn also.

If you're still looking, a fellow by name of Ken McLean, Victrian club member, makes up electric motor adapations. $40 for single speed, $80 for 2-speed. Includes wiring, switch and installation instructions. I put one on mine and it seems to work OK (although I haven't taken it out in the rain since fitting. I have an accesssory electric wiper conversion for my FE, but it is different to the one on ebay. The ebay one looks to have a later style round motor, whereas mine is quite rectangular. (I will take a photo and post it soon) The vacuum control is similiar, so maybe they changed the design at some time ( like when they started preproduction for the EK). I would be interested to see that, Geoff. Mine is definately a genuine Nasco one. I was not aware of any others, but it may well be an aftermarket one like Wibroc or similar. EK had electric wipers anyway, so I doubt that would have redesigned one for that range. Keep me posted, as I am very interested. I like any accessory. The drive arm supplied was different to the original vacuum one. In fact, the shaft rotates a full 360 degree where as the vacuum one rotates about 165 degrees. The only way I could get the EK one to work was to make a shortened arm with a crank arrangement to drive the second arm - not pretty but it works. Saw something similar recently at a swap meet which at least confirmed my approach was right. If I had know about Ken's ones at the time, I would have gone for one of his two speed units. I had similar problems years ago when I converted.What you need to do is pull the 2 linkages apart where the nut is and connect 1 linkage where the nut is and the other where the circlip is.Works a treat. Yesterday I thought that my FE aftermarket Electric Wiper was not round. Well it is round and has 'Presslite' on the electric motor. (see photos below) It is contolled by the old vacuum slide mechanism and has bayonet for power lead. I had previously fitted an EK electric wiper and had no trouble with the mechanism. A resister is used to reduce the flow of electric current. If you are using the EK wiper motor you will have to use a resister to make it a 2 speed and the same with the heater fan.
