If you fit a VH40 booster to the original master cyinder to run disk brakes, is there some valve or something you have to remove from the master? If so what exactly is it and what does it do?

Can someone tell me if I have to remove the master cylinder to do this or is the valve behind the pipe fittings on the end of the unit? Sorry to ask such a basic question but I don't have a manual handy and I don't want to remove the master cylinder if I don't have too.
