Title: Master Cylinder Modifications
Post by: Burnsy on June 08, 2004, 09:23:16 AM
I am sure this has been covered before but I can't find it.  If you fit a VH40 booster to the original master cyinder to run disk brakes, is there some valve or something you have to remove from the master?  If so what exactly is it and what does it do?

I have been informed that I need to take the residual pressure valve out of the Master cylinder (thanks Brad).

Can someone tell me if I have to remove the master cylinder to do this or is the valve behind the pipe fittings on the end of the unit?  Sorry to ask such a basic question but I don't have a manual handy and I don't want to remove the master cylinder if I don't have too.

Thanks,

Mike

Have pulled out the master cylinder, is it just the one way valve on the end of the spring I get rid of?  The spring stays right?

The residual valve holds pressure on the drum brakes whilst for discs, you want the pads to be able to back off just a little once you take your foot off the brake.
