Title: Lang Lang 40th birthday
Post by: customFC on May 27, 2004, 10:29:15 AM
Here are some official Holden pics released as a press release in 1997 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Holden's Proving Ground - Lang Lang.
A comparison between then and now.

Interesting pictures, Holden was testing both the FE and FC in 1957 according to these pictures. Nothing like a bit of poetic licence when it comes to advertising. ::)

Notice that the older Holden goes thru deeper and dirty water then the 'newer' Holden.

Great pix.  It's not inconceivable that an FC was being put through its paces in 1957.  It is at least the initial release paint scheme.  If it as painted in late 59 colours or something I'd be more suspicious of poetic license...

cheers

Geez RET,do you think they would still be testing a has been FE ;) when they have the U Beaut new FC to play with??? ;D
Besides according to the TV FE came out in 1954!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o three years before these so called photos (As we know from the FJ book, holden dated photos by when they where filed not actually taken) pity advertising companies don't know this.

gidday all

if you look at the rego plates of both cars you will notice that they are not far apart ie: "gse" & "gts"[i think] i"m no expert but i have seen plenty of fe's with later issued plates [anything up to"gup"] but nothing earlier than "gut" on an fc. anecdotally i believe both these plates to be around  mid to late 1957 issue. i'm sure there are others who can pinpoint this more accurately.

They obviously knew that the FE was going to be a failure  so they were getting in early so the FC was going to be perfect on release.
