Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: Trevor_B on May 22, 2004, 12:05:52 AM Slim,
The VH44 is noticably smaller than the VH40. They should also have a small I.D. label stating type & Serial No which is on the same side as the hydraulic cylinder. The VH44 is actually designed for drum brakes and the VH40 is for discs. Trevor_B Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: Blown_FC on May 22, 2004, 12:43:07 AM Mike....Mark again from Manji !
Might be easier to source the wreckers for a crappy old VH40 / VH44 real cheap, then take it to PERTH BRAKE PARTS in Welshpool and buy and exchange unit. I did this the other week, and they kindly swapped a recon VH40 for my crappy old VH44...for just $180 odd ! The booster is practically as new from the factory, albeit paitned black........I was very happy ! Just an idea ! Cheers Mark Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: Trevor_B on May 22, 2004, 02:13:04 AM Mark,
I bought a brand new VH44 the other day and they now paint them black! Trevor_B Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: Blown_FC on May 22, 2004, 02:14:25 AM Well there you go !
Dare I ask how much a new VH44 was ??? Mark Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: Trevor_B on May 22, 2004, 05:09:07 AM Well..... I didn't pay retail due to family connections ;) but I believe they are worth ~ $470. Brake Parts Australia still make them - check their web site for contact details: http://www.bpa.com.au/
Another post suggests a price for a new VH40: Quote I'm looking for a VH40 brake booster to fit to an EH for an HR disc front end. Repco want $582 for a new one Regards, Trevor_B Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: Blown_FC on May 22, 2004, 05:12:53 AM That's what I thought......my theory stands.......trya nd find the cheapest old unit you can ( for exchange purporses only ), and buy and exchange unit.....less than half the price !
Cheers Mark Title: Re: VH40 Booster Post by: slim on May 22, 2004, 08:04:14 AM If thats the case the 2 I have are VH 40, To suit disc brakes. $80 each.

Couple of pics to show you the size difference. The body of the VH40 is ~225mm diameter while the VH44 (the black one) is ~180mm diameter.
