Title: FITTING MY 202 ? Post by: Blown_FC on May 20, 2004, 04:43:06 AM Can anyone tell me the best place to attach an engine crane to my 202 motor ?
I've been told I can mount the trimatic to the motor first, then install the whole lot in one go with the engine hoist. Just not sure of the best mounting points to attached the chain from the hoist ? Any help ? Cheers Mark Title: Re: FITTING MY 202 ? Post by: Jockster on May 20, 2004, 06:34:21 AM Mark
From most Supercheap, Sprint or Autobarn stores you can buy a balance bar which bolts to each end of the engine and has a long screw which will allow you to lift the motor and gearbox at a steep angle for the initial fitting then you screw a handle and it gradually centralises the bar until the motor and gearbox is level. They cost about $49.00 and are very handy Cheers Jock Title: Re: FITTING MY 202 ? Post by: nicko on May 20, 2004, 11:19:53 AM i am installing a red motor into car as we speak and i have attached a heavy chain a foot long from the coil bolt hole to the second last stud for the manifold this has the gearbox(aussie 4 speed) at about a 30deg angle which is perfect for installation into car, the block and tackle hook attaches to this chainor if using an engine crane then hook is the same spot as block and tackle.hope this helps.

It's only a trial fit at this stage, just so I can see where my triple strommies hit the firewall, so I can make a resess before it goes to the paint shop ! So I'm not too stressed about the odd scratch with a chain. Thanks again Mark |
