Is there additional adjustment on the front doors tried with the three bolts in the doors but need a bit more. Is there any adjustment if I slacken the phillips screws on the door shuts?
Any hints on adjusting, just painted the car so have to be careful.

Is the door the original one from your car? Or maybe the car has been in an accident? Or maybe it was just like that from the factory  ;D

It is likely you will need to file out the door hinge holes to give you the required adjustment as I don't think there is any other way around it.

Which way do you need to move the door?
If it is towards the pillar then do as Craig has suggested.
Otherwise some hinge bending will be required.
You really should fix the hinge pin wear otherwise the door will not adjust properly.

Need to pivot the door upwards to the rear can get the perfect fit by lifting the striker plate/ latch ? but hard to shut .
Just stripped the 3 bottom threads can I tap these out and fit bigger bolts.
Sometimes it is better to leave things alone!!!!

 first off have to agree with KEN replace ALL hinge pins  thats will help a lot.
If it still won't adjust try to place a shim between the door pillar and the hinge plate.
I used some 1mm sheet steel and cut up my own.
could use some wheel aligment shims off a HQ holden check for size.

Nick - I'm a bit confused - with the door lifted, you get the right fit and the striker plate is raised to the correct position, why is the door difficult to shut?  Is it pressing on the door rubber somwhere?
Determine why it is tight and you may have to trim some rubber here and there so door will shut properly.
However I suggest that you fix all hinge pin bushes first in order to take this variable out of the equation.
I can do this work for you but it is fairly labour intensive to do.
BTW - no problem drilling and retapping door plates for larger bolts.  Use a UNF thread, not a UNC thread.

Are the door hinge pins still available?
Where and how much?
Tried to get the hinges off once before, but the screws into the A pillars would not budge so left them alone. Now the door drops even more and I should fix 'em.
Any hints or tips appreciated.

hi nick. going through the same dramas at the moment. just had car resprayed/ replaced all rubbers and have been trying to get the doors to sit right for weeks.  with my back doors i had to place a shim (washer) between the B pillar and the hinge (to get the door move towards the front of the car) and the other required a smaller shim to bring the bottom edge in. the front is a lot easier but yesterday ran into problems trying to get the drivers side to line up. the amount of movement in the hinge makes adjustment impossible , can get it to sit ok with the striker plate adjustment but notice the drop when your unlatch the door, so im trying to track down some hinge pins myself.
just take your time and have a paitent mate helping you ;D and when it gets frustrating and there is a good chance they will test you paitence WALK AWAY . sit down have a beer then try later  ;D ;D

nick and alex, just been on the phone to rare spares trying to find hinge pins and they tell me that the pins have not been made since 1978 and there are none available, the only thing they can sell me is the brass bush for the inside of the hinge.
however the pins/bushes do suit hinges from fe-hr so that may help if you have to track some second hand stuff down.
ive just ordered the bushes so i will take the lot down to an engineering place and see what they can do for me. being brass im hoping that it is worn out before the pin,
does anyone have anyother suggestions???

Settled for a bit of a compromise door position pretty good but shuts with a  slight "thump".
Will have a look round for some hinges that don't have so much movement.

Pins don't wear a lot - I use rear door pins as they are the same as front door ones but don't get used as much.
Brass bushes are available, but once again I find that rear door bushes have very little wear usually.
