Title: Rear wheel cylinders Post by: andyK on May 21, 2001, 12:00:00 PM Ive fitted a HR rear end to the FC. Its from a drum brake front end HR and I read the cylinder size is different. 2questions. 1. are the rear shoe sizes different as well? 2. can I change the cylinder to the correct size one?
Title: Re: Rear wheel cylinders Post by: Tim on May 22, 2001, 12:00:00 PM The difference in rear brake shoes are if they are off a comercial ie ute/panal van (they will be wider & don't have a notch for the pushrods out of the slave cly. Also later HRs had self adjusting rear brake mechanism.
Title: Re: Rear wheel cylinders Post by: Ken McLean on May 26, 2001, 12:00:00 PM HR Rear brake lining area of the HR (62 sq mm)is greater than that of the FC(56 sq mm). Also the rear FC brake cylinder is 1 and i/16 inch versus the HR with 13/16 inch diameter. Unfortunately the FC wheel cylinder will not fit the HR rear end. The problem you will have is that too much pressure will be applied to the rear brakes causing rear brake lock up in an emergency stop. This is very dangerous. Suggest you fit a HR front end as well.
