Title: shiny bits Post by: Jonno on April 21, 2004, 05:33:52 AM Hi,
Can anyone tell me where I might get hold of a polished brake master cylinder? I obtained a clutch one (see left item in photo, the one on the right is a normal PBR type) as part of an 5-speed conversion kit but no-one involved in this sale can remember where the master cylinder came from. I'd like a matching brake cylinder and have tried the usual suspects (local brake shop, rare Spares, etc) without any luck. Does anyone sell them or do I need to get one polished? If the latter, is there any particular type that is best for polishing up? cheers, Jonno Title: Re: shiny bits Post by: mcl1959 on April 21, 2004, 08:24:57 AM You will need to have one polished. We do these from time to time for customers who are doing show cars. We use Complete Metal Polishing in Sunshine.
They do a very good job. Start with a standard aluminium master cylinder - not an older cast iron one. Ken Title: Re: shiny bits Post by: Effie C on April 21, 2004, 09:34:21 AM Jonno
Smithy in Canberra in a moment of weakness sat down and polished his own,it turned out just like the one in your photo. Try sending him a pm and he may explain how he did it and how long, definitely a DIY possibility. Not everything has to be done by professional or by paying someone.(No offense meant, just a comment in general) John M Title: Re: shiny bits Post by: Jonno on April 21, 2004, 09:50:52 AM thanks guys...I'll investigate further.
