Title: GEARBOX MOUNTS ???
Post by: Blown_FC on April 08, 2004, 11:53:30 PM
I have a trimatic fitted to a red motor 202.

I have also just bought the CRS Chassis kit, and noticed the crossmember that supports the gearbox, has mounting holes at a different width apart than the holes on the neck of the trimatic....

I'm presuming there would be a rubber block type mount that fits between the neck of the trimatic and the chassis kit crossmember, but as my car has been stripped for so long, I forget what it used to look like.

Can anyone post pics or explain how to mount the gearbox properly ?

Cheers

Mark

The two holes on the gearbox crossmember should be closer together than the holes on the box.

That's right Glen....but why.....and how do the two bolt together if the holes are not aligned...it seems as if there should be a mount between the two....that is my question ?

Hi Mark,
The rubber gearbox mount has 2 holes in the top of it to bolt to the gearbox extension housing and 2 studs which are closer together at the bottom to go through the gearbox crossmember and are secured with nuts and washers.
Hope this helps ;)

Mark,
I would think that most spare parts shops would still stock the gearbox mounts. From memory the 3 and 4 speed Aussie gearboxes have the same mount, so if you have to buy a 2nd hand one anything from HK-VK Commodore with those gearboxes should fit. Some later model ones are reinforced with a extra bracket too. :o
