Title: FE Front Indicators Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on April 06, 2004, 09:58:53 AM I have just got the indicator housings back from the platers, a NOS pair of lenses (thanks RobJ).
Now what do I do? I have about 7 housings that I had been hoarding and none really seem to have any good internals. The best ones only have one wire coming out the back. Is there a repro, replacement or modification that I can use? When bolting the chrome to the body, is there a gasket or a recommended trick? I can see it chipping the paint. Maybe a bead of silicone? Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: zulu on April 06, 2004, 10:31:44 AM Stinky, Re the re-fitting: When I re-fitted mine I went to a rubber shop, (no not the chemist) where they re-do door rubbers & the like. I got a channel rubber, sold by the metre, & did the headlight surrounds as well as the blinker bodies, just take the blinker body with you to ensure you get a snug fitting profile. Also, Clark Rubber may have it.
Gary Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: mcl1959 on April 08, 2004, 09:59:13 AM There is a factory gasket rubber to go behind the chrome body which lets you bolt the chrome up gently against the paint.
No repro of the blinker body thet I know of, good s/h ones shouldn't be too hard to find. English cars had the same body. He did however explain that there is only one wire to the globe, so the ones I have may not be as trashed as I thought.
Geez, they know how to charge for the shackle hangers though! Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: Sarge on April 13, 2004, 06:59:06 PM Stinky I am also chasing the internails for the front indicator. I only need one. So if anybody can help call me please, Mark 0421 165 351.
Sorry for hijack stinky. Regards Sarge Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on April 13, 2004, 07:09:04 PM No probs Sarge, I may be able to help you out, I just need some spare time to go through the indicators that I have to see what is what.
Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: Sarge on April 13, 2004, 07:18:14 PM Thanks Stink that would be great. Let me know when you have time. No real hurry as Wintersuns not for about 7-8 weeks.

Checked with Rares in Melb and there is nothing. The rubber ones should be OK to make up myself, I would like to know what the third gasket is made of, the one that goes between the plastic lense and the housing. Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: FE_UTE on May 01, 2004, 10:01:15 AM stinky, this photo may help...it shows all the gaskets
The yellow looking gasket is a plastic one. It fits on top of the large rubber gasket so the lens can be pushed and turned to lock so as not to damage the rubber (http://photo.starblvd.net/feute/1-5-1-1084388539?m=1&pg=0&ro=4&co=0) I also have the fitting instructions which may help , let me know if ya want them and i will scan and email you a copy Gary Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: Sarge on May 01, 2004, 10:10:03 AM Gary if it's not to much trouble I would like a copy if possible, as I am going though the same stage as Glen. Also how thick is the plastic gasket you mentioned.
Regards Sarge Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: FE_UTE on May 01, 2004, 10:36:04 AM Sarge..the platic gasket is like a shim 1/2 a mil. The rubber gasket is 4.5mm to 5mm with a u channel at the back. The solid part is 2mm. This is so when you push the indicator into place it has a soft feel and then gives tension so it doesnt come loose (my thoughts only)
I will flick you off a set of instructions Cheers Gary (http://photo.starblvd.net/feute/1-5-2-1084330965?m=1&pg=0&ro=4&co=1&pw=*AA840924657) Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on May 01, 2004, 10:40:18 AM Thanks Gary, the one non-rubber gasket that I have was pretty sad and I couldn't make out what it was. Looks like I am missing the larger rubber gaskets though.
No real need for intructions, but thanks, all of the diecast bases I have, have trashed threads or they are heading that way. I will probably end up drilling them out and using nuts and bolts. Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: mcl1959 on May 01, 2004, 11:45:47 PM I have one or two of the globe holders in good nick and some gaskets as well. Price is $20 for the lot.
Ken Title: Re: FE Front Indicators Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on May 13, 2004, 09:44:14 PM Gaskets are now sorted, I got some neoprene rubber from Clark Rubber for the two rubber gaskets and some neoprene foam sheet for the other larger gasket, this stuff is slippery so I don't really need the plastic gaskets. A bit of mucking around to cut them by hand, but they are out of sight so they don't have to be perfect.
