Title: FC Commercial bench seat
Post by: Fast_Eddie on March 31, 2004, 03:35:17 AM
Hello,

I need to get the bench seat in my panelvan refurbished. Currently it is a late 59 Special seat.

Can anyone post or email images of how a commercial seat was trimmed, front and back (view)?

I understand they had plywood backing, if so, what thickness and what colour? Did they have the plastic uprights fitted?

Thanks for your help,

Regards

Edward

The back panel was plywood, half inch thickness, painted the same colour as the van.  Plastic surround around the base only, none up the side.

Ken,

Thank you for posting that image.

From the picture I think I can determine 5 pleats on each side, defining 4 narrow panels.

Can you give me approx width of the plain area on each side, the middle, and the width of the pleated panels.

Thanks

Edward

Eddie, centre panel is 12 inches wide, then 4 x 3 inch panels on each side.
The join in the seat back is 11 inches up from the base.

Also - small mistake, the back of the seat is the same colour as the seat material, not the car.
