Title: engine mounts
Post by: Jonno on February 29, 2004, 08:33:10 AM
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone recognises these engine mounts?

I went into Rare Spares today to find some new ones. They are from the HR front end of my FE ute and, as its running a red motor, I assumed they were HR engine mounts but...

the ones the Rare Spares guy produced were 5-10mm wider at the fitting and so wobble around on my mounts.  The ones I have are 4.5cm wide. He reckoned that he didn't have ANYTHING that looked like these.

So, what are they from??

thanks, Jonno

Hi Jonno,
The engine mount you have is for EH to HR.
The wider one is for HK to WB. ;)

If the answer is that simple, maybe Rare Spares should look into replacing at least one member of their staff.
I mean, geezus, I might not have known the answer, but surely the Rare Spares guy should know.

to overcome this, I always bring a sample in of what I need.

I did take one with me (honest!) but they still couldn't find anything to match.

Afraid Rare Spares are like any other store, they pay peanuts and they get monkeys. I wouldn't give up on the store just that particular idiot that 'served' you. Hopefully the agent has  more than one employee and that someone in there knows what is what.
If not let the owner know that he is losing money by not selling what you need, I think there would be some staff education / changes if he knew.
If the idiot is the store owner buy off the net from rares or go to Repco who also stock all the bits you would probable want for the red motor.
