HI EVERYONE...WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS THE WIDEST TYRES I CAN FIT ON MY FC SPECIAL SEDAN..THE CAR IS ALL STANDARD..

The widest I have seen on a stock rim are 185's, and more commonly 175's are fitted. I don't think it would be safe going any wider, but it's probably best to ask your tyre dealer.

You will find 185 and 175 tyres are easy to come by, but they will almost always have a profile of "70" (height 70% of width). I chased around and got a set of 175/75/13's - IMHO they suit the FE/FC guard opening a little better because of the increased sidewall height.

I have 185's on my FE standard rims and the tyre people suggested these were the widest they would go.Even 185's could roll off the rims.

As a matter of interest - there is also an 80 series available. I've just put one on the spare. It's a nice high profile and the wheel clamp actually keeps it where it's supposed to be. Looks more like the original cross ply too.

I've got 80 series Roadstone tyres on Faecal, which were actually very cheap (maybe $65/corner?) When I went to buy a new spare though, they chased all over for something similar, and couldn't get anything that size.  So I'd be interested to know who has them too.

They are a good match for the original cross-ply height, too - my speedo is pretty accurate.

thanks guys...i have 175's on now so i think i will just leave them  on..the extra 10 mm wont make much difference..thanks again guys

The 80 series I have are "CEAT SPIDER" brand. 185/80R 13 - 83T and are made in Turkey. They don't have a high speed rating but I've only got them as spares.
Got them at The Tyre Factory in Cheltenham Melbourne. Don't know if they have any outlets interstate tho' but I can ring & ask them if they know of anywhere if anyone's interested.

I have Skypower 185/75/SR13 88S tyres on my EJ. These are made in NZ by Bridgestone. This size is still quite common on caravans and trailers using early Holden rims (which is why you can still buy these rims new from ROH). I bought my tyres last year from Jax at about $72 each. There is another brand available in this size - Classic 75. Can't remember who makes them but they are about the same price and available from some of the big tyre outlets. I bought the Skypowers because they were in stock and I wanted them that day (Saturday) for a trip and  I would have had to wait until Monday for the others.

The Skypowers don't seem to ballon out from the rims and have a nice sidewall height. I previously had Classic 75s and they ballooned out more.

John Cain in Newcastle sells 185/80R13 Whitewalls, I think that they are Coker or some such USA brand.  I think that they are $113.00 each.  He advertises in Unique Cars.

Dunlop make a 185/70R13 that can be purchased for about $80.00 each, the place where I found these is at Sefton.

How do the sizes compare?  All data below is calculated, not measured.  First two lines: mm.  Second two lines: cm.

Kumho and GT Radial make a 185/80-13 also.  I was investigating fitting those to my standard rims on my HD when a nice set of mags with good tyres came along.  They can be obtained from Tyrepower franchises.

Since everyone is putting in there imput so will i,

I have 205/65 Goodyears on 13x6 ROH rims

but i must say with a full tank the rears scrape a bit

but i like them better than those original lacky bands :-/

Can you measure your wheels for me, as I'm interested in their offset.  I'm considering that size tyre for my (daughter's) FE but don't want a lot of scraping going on.

The rear tyre side wall scrapes a little on the rear inner wheel arch lip.
It leaves a slight mark on the side wall, nothing to worry about.
You can go to the next tyre size down or grind about 3 mm of the inner rear lip.
