It is a very nice van being HOLDEN and all but nothing could beat your own blood sweat & tears like your trusty FC Windowless Van ? Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: slim on January 30, 2004, 09:05:23 AM Yeah I drove the Fc windowless van today too !! WOW talk about the generation gap ... Only similarity was watching peoples jaws drop open when I was driving Both of them !!!!
Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: 4hammers on January 30, 2004, 11:40:48 AM Hi Slim.
Nice van, but it isn't the only one. We have an SS ute here in Hobart that I have seen about & at Xmas, there was a HSV Maloo ute with VIC plates (Metallic grey) that had one. They both looked bloody nice. You can get the covers some through Holden dealers. Rob J Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: vy2van on January 30, 2004, 11:58:49 AM I hate to disappoint you Slim but I have a VY series 2 van as well and I have the NSW Plates VY Van.
It is a S pack becuase I dont trust Holden with the GEN 3 motor. I will wait until they produce a decent Aussie V8 or when they modify the GEN 3 for unleaded fuel before I will change it. Sean Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: slim on January 30, 2004, 09:13:12 PM Oh well you just dont believe everything your told now do you ... I havent seen one before , And the person who was driving it Told me it was the first one in OZ !! Its actually owned by GMH , and tagged JAN 03. Only has 8000 ks on the clock , so his story was quite believable anyway .. You can ALWAYS GET THE TRUTH ON OUR FORUM.... HEY GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!! ::) ::) :-* :P
Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: fe2ek on January 30, 2004, 10:06:37 PM I dont think they will be a true panel van until they take the ute rear window out of them. They look very nice though. They could improve the upper tailgate to lower tailgate seal. The ones i have seen are roughly siliconed on.Looked shabby.
Regards Geoff Ps Slim,Quite a few of them down here in Vic. Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: 4hammers on January 31, 2004, 12:18:35 AM Hi all.
Slim, you may want to have a look at this site. It is the officail Holden webpage. http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/vehicleentry?vehicleid=15 Then there is this one. http://www.users.on.net/nweber/commodore/vy/vy-ute.html Note the panelvan down the bottom & the description. Also, note the date. Give you local Holden dealer a call & ask about the canopy. See how many have been sold. You will be surprised how many & also how much they cost. Rob J = Teller of truth & dispeller of myths ;) ::) Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: vy2van on January 31, 2004, 09:57:39 AM Slim
I know of another 2 vans in existence. One was on show at the Van Nats in Gympie last year (Delft Blue in colour) and the other was for sale in the Melbourne Trading Post recently (Phantom Mica, number plate THUNDR). Recently, I was told by the NSW rep for HBD that there are only about 10 on the road. I dont know if that is only NSW or all of Australia? Sean Ps I love my PANEL VAN (aka ute with a canopy). Holden did consider making a one-piece body but it was easier to modify the ute body as they outstrip sales at the moment, whereas they couldnt justify spending alot on tooling for a small number of sales. If, and a big, if sales take off, they will do a one-piece body but I dont see that happening as Holden's PR department hasnt exactly been advertising the NEW panel van. Have they? I havent seen it on TV or in the papers, only the Monaro, the ute, the Adventura and their specials. Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: air-chief on January 31, 2004, 10:07:33 AM Hey guys
there one of these getting round the eastern suburbs of melbourne, its in a red colour. Looks pretty shit hot. Cheers a-c. Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: vy2van on January 31, 2004, 06:33:59 PM Mine is in Cosmo Mica. Holden dont do utes in green, blue or yellow anymore. That was last year's (2002) colours.

This looks like the one I seen out the front of a Holden dealer at Campbelltown. Its the only one I see so far. But who cares the more the better & if the bloke told you it way the only one I would have believed him as well especially if I got to have a drive. You can only take what someone says on face value. Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: 4hammers on February 01, 2004, 12:26:54 AM Well, that is a surprise! ::) ::)
Slim getting miffed at someone elses info. NO ONE said there were heaps. I said I have seen 2! The other fella HAS one, & Holden have been selling the top for 18 months. No one called you a "Dick", I just pointed out I have seen 2. Just relax, man. You are a lucky sod to have driven one! Rob J - Man who gets annoyed with "Drama Queens". ;) Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: vy2van on February 01, 2004, 07:05:05 AM I didnt mean to harm anyone either but I do get around Campbelltown NSW and I will be going to Queensland next week...so does that mean ppl will have seen 2 in each state???? or is it 3??
PS Some people may wonder why I'm in this forum. The reason being is that I 'm restoring an original EH van and I find you guys so helpful with tips & that. I esp like the old ads. Now that's a true VAN, like Slim's. Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: Digger on February 01, 2004, 09:03:58 AM Hey Slim,
Are they a true panel van or are they a ute with a canopy fitted, I havent seen one as yet so getting a bit confused after reading some posts. I have seen a heap of crewman utes in Melb but not noticed any of the panel vans. best regards Steve Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: oldgmh on February 01, 2004, 09:35:02 AM They are just a ute with a snug fitting canopy.
Access to inside the van is only from the rear - ie. unable to climb through the cabin, so its only a panel van in looks. Title: Re: What a sweet sweet VAN Post by: slim on February 01, 2004, 11:06:39 AM DRAMA QUEENS ???? No wonder I dont start many new posts these days , When other people know EVERYTHING , Why bother ??? P/S 4 Hammers , I wasnt saying you called me a dick , I felt I had made a Dick of myself , by not researching before starting this thread . PLEASE LETS NOT GO THERE AGAIN ..!!! I was just happy to have driven that VAN , and wanted to share my excitement , Being a HOLDEN FANATIC and All...
