Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: FC0058 on December 21, 2003, 10:50:02 AM Evening Robin
I just spent the day at Birdwood Mill and much to my dismay there is not a single FE to be seen and only 2 FC's. So I am thinking my money would have been better spent over looking your collection. I can not wait to see more of your cars, post those photos soon. Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: cajerridoc on December 21, 2003, 03:06:25 PM I offered the Birdwood Museum some of my cars a few months ago and they said that they were not looking for any more at the time. If you do want a visit just let me know and we may be able to arrange something.
Some history of "Old Smokey", the FE 225 above. It was sold by Gilbert Motors LTD at Mt Barker SA on the 3rd of July 1957 to a person from Hahndorf. The packing slip from GMH Woodville says it was packed on the 6th of June 1957, the body colour is Ascot Grey and the Trim is FAB. It also came with the "Owner Service Policy", "Good Housekeeping", "Important Driving Instructions and Manufacturer's Warranty" and a service card showing the services upto 24174 miles in 1978. It has currently travelled just over 32000 miles. The gentleman that I bought if from had 26 cars and was moving to a retirement home and could only have 2 cars. And now continuing the tour: FC 229........The Grey Ghost. Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: FC-V8 on December 27, 2003, 11:46:33 PM Robin
Love the cars & the excellent shed & what a great touch with FE in the paving :D. Now I know why I am see less FE/FC now, because you have them all ;). Cheers Glenn Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: cajerridoc on December 31, 2003, 07:21:26 AM The floor has "FE" at one end and "FC" at the other. The shed will take 12 cars.
I decided to collect the cars as a hobby for when I retire in about 20 years. They are a lot easier to find now than they will be then. It is funny that you should say that there seem to be less around, as I have the collection. A similar comment was made about the number of club members we have in SA. I am actually trying to preserve at least 1 of each of the types of FC and FE. That is a ute, panel van, standard wagon, station sedan, standard sedan, business sedan and special sedan in both FE and FC. There is a FE ute on its way from Cairns as I write, another one for the shed. So far I am missing 3. The 2 business sedans and the FC standard wagon, but I'm still working on those and they do still seem to be out there. And now a picture of some of the spare parts: (http://photo.starblvd.net/cajerridoc/1-2-3-1074658988?m=1&pg=0&ro=1&co=2&pw=*12E53FF11C12) If you want to look at some more pictures click on the URL below. Once there click on "FE and FC" to see the thumbnails. There are a couple that you have not seen yet and I will be adding more, so if you find it interesting keep having a look: http://photo.starblvd.net/cajerridoc Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: cajerridoc on January 02, 2004, 07:59:07 AM There are some more new pictures at the web site above. Some of the works in progress and the one I could not save. Also a couple more of the restored ones.
Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: slim on October 19, 2004, 10:20:38 AM Looks like The BLIND VANs going to a Home she could only dream about.. What a Fantastic Collection. I would consider that one of the best Collections of FEs and FCs I personally know of. Its a credit to you Robin.. The Van will slot into your collection very nicely. Congratulations.

Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: 4hammers on June 08, 2005, 03:15:04 AM A top bloke, too. Robin & his boys visited me at my Bakery late last year (Or was it early this year ???) in Hobart.
He bought the 15,000 mile FC I had for sale & is looking after it a treat. He has some great cars! Rob J Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: cajerridoc on June 11, 2005, 09:38:14 AM Yes I am still around and the collection has grown to 21 although 1 is technically sold awaiting delivery and there are 2 others that are for sale, an FE ute and an FCwindowless van. (not Slim's).
I have been working on repainting the roof of the FE229 for the last few months. 4hammers- It was in January this year that we visited although it does seem a long time ago. Top place Tassie, would recommend it to anyone, but you need a minimum of two weeks there to get around the place. It may look small but there is a lot packed into it. Title: Re: A taste, of the collection. Post by: FATBOY on June 12, 2005, 12:49:20 AM any pics of the ute for sale
