Title: Bumper Bars (NSW)
Post by: Spinner on October 05, 2003, 12:04:14 PM
Craig,

Who did your bumpers for Baby Pooh?  I've just purchased an FE which needs the bumpers etc to be done.  I'm in Fairfield, Sydney.  Seems almost worthwhile to send mine off to Victoria (the car just came from there... :-/)

BTW, you might have the Pooh car, but mine has a Pooh Motor.  The people that I bought it off had painted the 161 with brown heat proof stove enamel.  When I clean the dust etc off the engine, I'll post some pictures.

Cheers

Spin,

My front bumper is original, rear is one purchased from Slim. The Melbourne thing sounds good to me so I might send mine down there. All Metal Bumpers in Sydney also do a good job - they did the chrome on Alfio's and Leon Spicer's cars.

The place that did my chrome - Superchrome in Malta Street at Villawood - completely stuffed everything I left with them. DON'T TAKE ANYTHING THERE!!!

Cheers,

Craig.

Further to Craig's comments - most of the bits he took for rechroming were in better condition before they were done than after!  All the diecast came back with grit under the surface, and the boot-lock surround had a hole burnt in it.  That an organisation could pack this stuff up and charge money for it just beggars belief.  No-one with a shred of (a) professionalism and (b) honesty could think it was OK to pass off workmanship like that.  I can only assume that the bloke they have doing the packing is blind and wears very thick gloves...

One of the benefits of belonging to a club is finding out good places to go and get things done.  Often advice on where not to go is even more valuable.

cheers

I just recently took a load of gear down to Electro Plating Technology in Queanbeyan after hearing good things about them on this site, not cheap, but they are doing some repair work as well.
It will be ready in about 8 weeks, I will get a discount because I belong to a car club, I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Hi guys,
As some of you already know (CraigA & RET) I had all the chromework on my FC done by Electroplating Technologies in Queanbeyan. I am VERY pleased  :Dwith the result. These guys care about the work they do. Yes it's expensive, but I don't care if I get the job done properly.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Graham.

Graham,

I'll be bringing replacement die cast parts with me to Canberra to have them rechromed in Queenbeyan. All I hear is positive comment about this guy so I think it's a safe bet he'll come up with the goods.

Look forward to catching up in a couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Craig.
