Hi Norm,

Do you have any other details on this car? It looks like it's got some sort of home made? front suspension design along with an external water reservoir??? I would love to know what engine was fitted and what sort of times it ran.

Good to see you and Harko had such a great time. Young sounds like a good place for a weekend run for the NSW Club................................ hint hint ;)

Cheers,

Craig.

.Cars name was "Illussion" and was powered by a blown chev. Times were around 10.97@125mph.  And to think all this was sitting on a prefect front axle. Most of the panel work was fiberglass including quarters, doors and whole front.

Reading the article a bit closer , Mark is spot on . The car belonged to Richie Jones & this was Australia's first "Funny Car" Powered by a "Blown & Injected 302 Chev" , Fibreglass panels and used  to run in the 10's.  While running "Illusion" Bruce Phillips met Bob Rayner , Result = "P & R Performance". Looks like the car ran in the mid 1960's

10 second passes in the in 60's. WOW.

When I see stuff like this I always wonder what happened to these cars. Lots of dollars and time spent, you wouldn't think they just got sent to the tip. Maybe they did? FWIK the engines normally get removed and put into something smaller/lighter, or into road cars, but where is this body?

Norm has kept his FC racer, and nobody would have known about his car except for this forum, so does anyone know this particular cars whereabouts? Is it hidden in the corner of someones shed?

Cheers,

Craig.
