Title: original Qld rego plates
Post by: Shayne on September 24, 2003, 10:29:51 PM
Does anyone know how to tell when a Qld car was first registered by the number plate?

I have just attached NNF 766 to my FE sedan.  These plates were originally off Dad's EK (I think since new).

Qld plates started the series with NA... some time in the mid to late fifties and carried on through O & P series before changing to green & whites.

I guess I'm asking this long winded question so I could get an idea of a suitable plate for a 57 or 58 FE.

Thanks, shayne.

I imagine the guys in the Queensland Club would know this sort of info.  In their part of the site http://www.qld.fefcholden.org.au there are some photos of club cars, and there are photos from the Nationals in the Nationals boards too.  I guess you might get a feel for the answer from them.

FWIW Greg Pritchards' car is registered NIN-059, which I believe is original.

cheers

You could do a rego trace though the RTA I believe it cost around $40.00 but they can tell you the history of the rego.

Just a thought

PS I have an old timer Mate who may shed some light. I will give him a ring.

Hi Guys.

Yes I have a basic list & it confirms that the NNF- prefix was 1961.

It also says that the first plate in the new series (NAA-000) was issues in 1955.

Regards.

Dr Terry.
