Hi all,

does a later model holden al synchro 3 -speed fit straight on a grey without any major dramas?

Hi tmudie.

Yes, the all-synchro box bolts straight onto the grey, no problems. The only bit different is the main shaft spline size, just use the later model clutch disc. The orignal clutch slave cylinder is simply mounted on an adaptor bracket (Dellow, Hadfield etc)

Where you run into problems depends on what model you are fitting it to. If I assume FE/FC, then the 3 difficulties are lack of provision for the side engine mounts, lack of room in the transmission tunnel & the column shift not being compatible.

It's not impossible, it's all been done before. A bit of fabrication will fix the engine mount problem, a floor shift conversion will remedy the gear linkage problem & if your'e handy with an oxy torch or similar you can have a go at the trans tunnel surgery.
