Title: FE front blinker Post by: Not Happy Jan on September 27, 2024, 02:44:13 PM Afternoon,
I have an earthing problem with my front RHS blinker. I have power to the assembly, test it with a multimeter and it shows power. Put in the bulb and nothing. Surely it is earthed when it's screwed to the body?? Not a sparky's bootlace. Nick Title: Re: FE front blinker Post by: ardiesse on September 27, 2024, 04:29:57 PM Nick,
With the bulb in the socket, repeat the test with the multimeter, but with the positive lead on the indicator housing and the negative lead on a known good earth, for example the front bumper. If the multimeter shows voltage when the indicators flash, you have a bad ground connection between the indicator housing and the car body. Undo the mounting nuts and pull the indicator housing out. Wire-brush the mounting studs clean. Wire-brush or sand around the mounting holes on the inside of the fender. Put external-tooth lockwashers between the nuts and the body. Tighten down securely. Ok this is wierd. No current on the housing. Check power on OK. Test with multimeter and light tester. Connect up to blinker assembly and I don't get a reading when I'm testing at the connection site. I literally have the circuit tester on the end from the car and its testing ok. plug in the blinker assembly without touching the tester and no power???
